A series of online gatherings exploring ways to live out the Jubilee Year.
Each session will focus on Jubilee themes in scripture, bringing this into conversation with stories and reflections from CAFOD partners/staff, to nourish us as we journey as pilgrims of hope.
Join us to reflect, pray and share together.
“For all of us, may the Jubilee be an opportunity to be renewed in hope.”
All the gatherings will be hosted on Zoom and take place from 7-8pm. They will not be recorded but some resources about each spiritual practice will be shared on the CAFOD website after the webinar.
Spiritual practices are the things we do to deepen our faith. They help us be aware of the presence of God, become more like Jesus and grow in openness to the Holy Spirit.
Alongside the Christian disciplines of prayer, fasting, and reading the Bible, the Jubilee Year is, for many, an occasion to rediscover other spiritual practices, like pilgrimage. In this series we will explore various ways in which, inspired by themes of the Jubilee, we can come closer to God, creation and our global family.
Pope Francis has chosen ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ as the theme for the 2025 Jubilee Year. Thinking about hope as a practice can help to combat despair without settling for vague optimism. We'll explore the biblical basis of hope in God's faithfulness, look for where the light of hope is shining in our world, and think about how we can be tangible signs of hope for those experiencing hardship.
The Sabbath, and by extension the Jubilee year, is about communal rest – rest for the earth and rest for people. Join us as we think about how we can respond to the Jubilee invitation to rest.
The Biblical Jubilee was a time of freedom, where debts were cancelled and people liberated. We’ll consider how we can be a people who proclaim freedom today.
The earliest Christians were called followers of the way, so core was journeying together to their sense of discipleship. How, by walking humbly with God, do we grow in our desire to act justly and to share the abundant gifts of our common home with all people?
Join us as we reflect on the myriad ways that God’s pilgrim people have been celebrating and proclaiming the Jubilee Year, to draw inspiration as we continue journeying together to build a better world.
