Take donations on your smartphone!

Select 'Tap to Pay' on the Zettle app and supporters can tap their card directly against your phone without the need for an additional card reader device. Their donation will still go through your CAFOD contactless account so it is just as secure as using a card reader, the only difference is that it uses your phone's antenna to pick up the signal.

Using contactless for CAFOD

No. You can use Wi-Fi but your phone's connection to a 3G or 4G network will work as well.

No. All donations are automatically sent to CAFOD so it is not possible to use your Zettle account to raise money for any other cause.

Yes. All donations are made through a closed system on the Zettle app that automatically sends all funds to a CAFOD bank account.

Using your phone is just as secure as using a card reader device. The only difference is that your phone's antenna is used to pick up the signal.

Although most smartphones can support the 'Tap to Pay' option, if the button does not appear when you click 'charge' on the Zettle app, then you will not be able to collect donations using just your phone but you can still collect them by ordering a separate card reader device by emailing contactless@cafod.org.uk.

Click the 'Reports' button on the Zettle app to see how much your parish has raised, with daily and monthly totals to help you keep track.

Costs and donations

There is a small transactional charge (as there usually is with any form of card payment) but because the donations come directly to CAFOD, this saves on processing costs.

Yes. All donations, are automatically sent to a CAFOD bank account so your donations are nice and secure.

We can’t claim Gift Aid on contactless donations, so if a supporter is keen to Gift Aid their donation, please encourage them to donate online instead at cafod.org.uk/give.

Donations received by CAFOD will show as:   IZ *CAFOD LONDON
