Follow these simple steps to help you plan and promote your event!
Step 1: Choose your event
You can do absolutely anything to raise money for CAFOD. Dive into our fundraising ideas to discover how you can make a real impact.
Challenge events
Take on an active challenge for CAFOD! Whether you want to run, walk, trek or cycle, your fundraising will help fight global poverty.
Step 2: Getting started
Begin by choosing a venue for your event that is safe, practical and accessible. Once you have your location, schedule a date so you can start planning and promoting, and then set your fundraising goal.
Step 3: Collecting donations
Think about how your supporters can donate to your fundraiser. You can easily set up a JustGiving page to collect donations online. All your donations will reach CAFOD automatically, meaning we can put your fundraising to work straight away.
You can also collect cash at your event. Make sure to use a secure cash box to keep this safe.
Create a QR code for your fundraising page
You can also generate a QR code for your fundraising page.
Just add '/qrcode' to the end of your URL and print it on posters to display at your parish or workplace.
Step 4: Ask for help
Get your friends and family involved in the planning of your event and on the big day. Not only will this help to make your event more successful, but it will also be lots of fun!
Step 5: Promote your event
Once your plans are in place, spread the word. The more people who know about your event, the more money you can raise!
You could try asking some local businesses to promote and support your event, or get in touch with your local press to help with publicity. You could also ask your employer if they offer a charity matched-giving scheme.

Step 6: Stay safe on the day
While your event is going to be super fun, it's also important to make sure it's safe. Check our advice page to make sure your event is both legal and safe.
Step 7: Send in your donations
Well done for all your incredible fundraising! Remember to send in your donations, so we can put your fundraising to work right away.
Maximise your impact with Gift Aid
When donors complete their details and tick the Gift Aid box on sponsorship forms or donation envelopes, we can claim an extra 25% from the government at no additional cost to your donors.
For example, a £20 donation with Gift Aid turns into £25 for CAFOD. Even if you pay over the phone or online, please send us the completed forms and envelopes so we can maximise the impact of every donation.
